From the Meeting!

So hopefully storyboards are finished, and Vis Dev has their hot little hands on them. We talked briefly of individuals taking charge of backgrounds and then one person doing the kid draw overs and teachers, so that they are the same style throughout.

I think it would be great if we could make it into an animatic as well!

Keep us posted on progress and whatnot!

We so got it this week!  Lets stay on top of this and really WOW the teachers and adobe with our progress

New Piece..

Hey Y'all. Got some bad news & good news.. Bad news: progress on my previous pieces have been lost... not sure what happened, but my PS crashed and corrupted the files. Good News: I made another quick piece inspired on Megan's boards... I've threw it up on the server, but feel free to take it off if you feel it not suitable for the presentation. Thanks, and sorry for the lost work!

Story moments

Some quick story moment ideas (WIPs) thinking of adding some interfaces in a bit.

Dinosaurs & Knit Caps

An Update:

I thought the knit cap might make him seem less futuristic, but I'm liking it a lot. Thanks Matt!

I'm still exploring some colors/styles. Let me know what ya'll think. (:

More Environments (Update)

Hey there, just looking for any feedback or suggestions that would help sell the idea of the interactive holographic classroom. I'm still working on a version for dinosaurs and space, which I'll hopefully have up before midnight if you care to look.

...Now with Dinos!

(...The deep sea version is sorta kooky when you get the large size; no idea why that's happening. The thumbnail should be the correct values.)

New Char. Design

I tried to give him a more space-future feel while considering the 2D aspect. He can definitely still be improved upon or simplified. If anyone has some time for a quick crit before tomorrow, that'd be great.

Rough Board Pass

Rough TV style passes on the way the story is headed based on where we discussed on Tuesday. The staging is a little off on some them, but it's still a visual beat pass context wise.

I'll pitch these in person tomorrow, but  just to give you guys an idea of what's going on now.

- He's at school, kids are whispering behind him making him uncomfortable and isolated.
- Teacher walks in and swipes the board starting up the hologram interface and pulls her lesson plan out as a ball of light. The light acts like seeds planting themselves into a kelp forest popping up one by one.
- The kelp isolates him from the other kids, causing him to get up and his desk to disappear.
- He notices fish and a mantaray swim around while the teacher and the other children are behind him also looking up and discussing the fish around them.
- Transition through the kelp to an older tree in the foreground and the boy and one of his classmates in a grassy field.
- They're looking around a bit confused when they feel a tremor, and a giant dinosaur foot passes across screen, followed by another foot.
- From their perspective the teacher is talking about the giant beast, showing the size comparison to them and the huge creature.
- Cuts to them being excited and used as a transition in space from grassy background fading into a starry one (keeping position)
-Smiling with excitement, they put on holograph protective eye gear, to see the sun in the middle as it goes super nova in the center of the children.
- Hologram actually effects their hair as a representation of force actually causes a wind effect on him, and he's having the time of his life.
- Bell rings and the holograms start disappearing.
- He leaves school while walking toward camera... possible walking and camera hold which would go through the car he gets into, and he sits down.
 - Mom asks him once he's buckled in how his day was.
- He looks back out the window and smiles lightly.
- He responds after we fade to black.

I'll be working on cleaning these up tomorrow and adding more film style transitions so there won't be arrows and stuff.

Outer Space Supernova Room (Updated)

For those who couldn't make it to the meeting tonight, this is kind of how I imagined a hologram supernova going off in the classroom.

Microsoft Vision of the Classroom of the Future

I just found this video and thought it was pretty cool. Specifically, I liked the interactivity between the people and the technology along with the conveyance of educational value without using any dialogue.
